Senior Data Architect

PerkSpot is searching for a Senior Data Architect to join our Engineering Team! The Senior Data Architect will be responsible for designing and managing the data architecture and infrastructure that supports our online platforms, mobile applications, and other data-related services.  This role requires extensive experience in configuration and monitoring of the daily database maintenance plan, creating scalable and efficient data models, ensuring data quality, and integrating various data sources to enhance business intelligence and decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have proven success in data architecture, a deep understanding of big data needs, and a strong ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

What you’ll accomplish:

SQL Database Administration

• Review and monitor the daily maintenance plan
• Administer daily and hourly backups
• Review indexing and other configurations that promote high performance and availability

Data Architecture Design

• Develop and implement data architecture strategies that support the platform’s goals and objectives.
• Design and maintain scalable, high-performance data models and schemas that support transaction processing, customer interactions, and business analytics.

Data Integration and Management

• Oversee the integration of diverse data sources including transactional systems and third-party services. 
• Ensure seamless data flow and consistency across various systems and platforms.

Data Quality and Governance

• Implement data governance practices to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
• Establish and enforce data quality standards and protocols.

Analytics and Reporting

• Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver actionable insights.
• Design and implement reporting solutions that provide meaningful business intelligence.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data architecture.

Performance Optimization

• Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and performance bottlenecks.

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, development, marketing, and operations to align data architecture with business objectives.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in data architecture, with a significant portion in a web environment.
• Proficiency in data modeling tools and techniques.
• Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with data warehousing solutions, big data technologies, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of ETL processes, data integration tools, and APIs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with large datasets to derive actionable insights.
• Proven experience in leading data architecture projects and mentoring technical teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
